  • Stage One

    The probable shape of the original Norman church of the 1100s.
    The thin line shows the arcade of the pillars and the wall above them and the crossed section indicates the likely position of the tower.

  • Stage Two

    A Century or more later, the great scheme of enlargement was in progress, and may have been intended to have the western tower outside the west front

  • Stage Three

    The main re-building completed, about 1330-1350, with the tower enclosed within the building, and the north porch added.

  • Stage Four

    The present ground plan of St Wulframs church, based on a detailed drawing made by William Sharpe in 1873
